Preparing for Surgery

We want our patients to feel confident and prepared as they embark on their journey to recovery, which is why we’ve compiled the information below to help prepare for before and after surgery.

Preparing for Surgery

The surgery center will contact you before your scheduled appointment.

We recommend patients wear comfortable clothes and have reliable transportation planned for the drive home after the procedure. Patients will need a driver’s license or another form of photo identification, as well as insurance and payment information.

Patients should plan to be at our surgery center roughly two hours before their scheduled surgery appointment to discuss their medical history as well as to meet with an anesthesiologist. At this time, we will also review consent forms and the surgical procedure again to make sure the patient is calm and comfortable about the procedure and doesn’t have any questions or concerns.

After Surgery

After surgery, patients will receive detailed recovery notes and recommendations from their doctor. We recommend patients also have a family member or a trusted friend with them for at least twenty-four hours after their surgery.

Although patients will feel noticeably better following surgery, it’s important to be mindful that surgery takes a toll on the body and patients should try their best to rest and relax afterwards.

If you or a loved one have questions or concerns about preparing for surgery, please don’t hesitate to contact us or call us at (727) 547-4700.
